All full-time employees are eligible to participate in Salem's medical plan. There are two plan options available, and employees can select the plan that best suits their needs. Coverage is provided through CIGNA HealthCare and the employee pays a portion of the premiums through pre-tax payroll deductions. Each employee will have the choice of insuring themselves and their dependents. Participation in this plan begins once an employee has completed 90 days of employment with Salem.

All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the dental plan. There are two plan options available, and each employee may select the plan that best suits their dental needs.
The coverage is provided by Unum and will be paid for by employees, through pre-tax payroll deduction. Each employee will have the choice of insuring themselves and their dependents and may use the services of any dentist of their choice. Please note that orthodontics is not covered by this plan.
Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after an employee has completed 60 days of employment with Salem.
A vision plan is available through Unum for all full-time employees. Employees may elect coverage for themselves and their dependents. Premiums are paid for by the employee through pre-tax payroll deductions. This plan provides coverage for exams, lenses and provides a yearly allowance for frames and contact lenses. Discounts may be available for laser vision correction through participating providers.
Coverage under this plan begins the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Salem provides all full-time employees and their dependents with company-paid life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage through Unum. Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after employees have completed 90 days of employment with Salem.
Coverage:
In addition to the company-paid Life insurance, Salem also offers all full-time employees optional supplemental life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage through Unum, paid for by the employee through post-tax payroll deduction. Rates are based on age and coverage level. Dependent coverage is also available. Participation in this plan begins the first of the month after employees have completed 90 days of employment with Salem.
Full-time employees are provided the opportunity to enroll in a voluntary Short-Term Disability (STD) program to assist with partial income replacement in the event of non-work-related injury or illness. The employee pays the premiums through post-tax payroll deductions and the rate is based on age and selected coverage level. With this program, employees may elect coverage from $100 up to $1000 not to exceed 65% of their weekly earnings. This benefit pays the elected coverage amount on a weekly basis from the 15th day of disability/illness up to 26 weeks.
Coverage is provided by Madison National Life Insurance and participation begins the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
Salem offers Long-Term Disability (LTD) coverage, for all full-time employees through Unum. This coverage provides up to 60% of an employees's monthly earning for non-work-related injuries, disabilities, or illnesses that keep an employee out of work more than 6 months. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee and begins the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
HOLIDAYS
Salem observes seven (7) days during the calendar year as official company holidays for full-time employees. The observed holidays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the employee's birthday. For drivers who are typically compensated based on mileage, holiday pay will be provided based on their hourly rate of pay.
VACATION
Vacation time offers employees a chance to take a break from their work routine and unwind. Vacation time is earned, approved, and compensated based on the employee's length of continuous service. Only full-time employees are eligible for vacation benefits.
Vacation is earned according to the following schedule:
Salem provides a valuable chance for all staff, whether full-time or part-time, to secure their future with a 401(k) retirement plan. Team members can allocate 1% to 50% of qualified earnings through pre-tax deductions from their payroll. Furthermore, the Company matches 50% of employee contributions, capping at 4% of the employee's input. Staff become eligible from the first of the month following six months of uninterrupted service. Salem’s customer base has different transportation needs, which allows drivers to have flexibility in route selection. This selection can vary from being home each night to over-the-road cross country. Options are as follows:
